Öztürkler: Türkiye key to balance on Cyprus
Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Chairman Mehmet Daniş and his accompanying delegation held a series of high-level contacts in Lefkoşa, including meetings with President Tufan Erhürman and the Republic’s Assembly Speaker Ziya Öztürkler.
The delegation was also received by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel
President Tufan Erhürman on Tuesday received RTÜK Chairman Mehmet Daniş and his delegation.
During the meeting, current developments in the field of broadcasting and opportunities for cooperation were discussed, while President Erhürman was briefed on the ongoing work of RTÜK.
The meeting was attended by High Broadcasting Council Chairman Feyzi Hansel.
As part of their contacts, the RTÜK delegation also visited the Republic’s Assembly, where they were received by Speaker Ziya Öztürkler.

Speaking during the visit, Öztürkler expressed satisfaction at hosting the delegation, noting that such visits from motherland Türkiye strengthen morale and are of great importance.
He emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people had gone through a difficult historical struggle and that the greatest support had come from Türkiye, describing the Cyprus issue as a national cause.
Referring to regional developments, Öztürkler said the Greek Cypriot side continues militarization efforts with countries including Israel, the United States and France, stressing that “the balance on the island of Cyprus is the Republic of Türkiye and its military.”
Öztürkler also underlined the importance of increasing the international visibility of the Turkish Cypriot people and ensuring their voice is heard more widely, describing the visit as meaningful and important for strengthening cooperation.
Later, the delegation was received by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
During the visit, Üstel underlined the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation with Türkiye, noting that such contacts contribute to both the development of the broadcasting sector and the international visibility of the Turkish Cypriot people.
