Robotic surgery operations to begin this week

Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek has announced that robotic surgery operations are expected to begin within this week, describing robotic surgery as one of the world’s most advanced medical technologies that enables safer operations with less harm to patients.

Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek visited Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital to inspect the robotic surgery infrastructure on site.

Stating that robotic surgery operations are expected to start this week provided no setbacks occur, Dinçyürek emphasized that robotic surgery is among the most advanced technologies developed worldwide, allowing safer surgical procedures with minimal impact on patients.

He noted that while the system has been used in many countries for years, it will represent a first for the TRNC.

Dinçyürek said robotic surgery applications are initially planned in five main branches, including general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, and gynecology.

The minister also stated that 15 physicians who volunteered and showed interest in robotic surgery were sent abroad for training, adding that operations will begin once the training processes are completed.

He noted that the teams and branches that are ready will gradually begin offering this method to patients.

Meanwhile, Chief Physician of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Hasan Birtan said healthcare is directly linked to technology and innovation, adding that the hospital aims to adapt to this technology in the coming period in order to carry out more successful operations and deliver better outcomes for patients.
