Ertuğruloğlu slams Greece’s latest proposals
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu said the idea of Israel leasing Greek islands in the Aegean and settling its citizens there is “the product of a flawed mindset.”
Ertuğruloğlu stated, “In my personal view, this is a repetition of the occupation project of Palestine.”
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu stressed that the recent discussions in Israel about leasing Greek-owned islands in the Aegean Sea and settling a Jewish population there aimed to encircle both Türkiye and the TRNC.
In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Ertuğruloğlu drew attention to relations between Israel and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, noting that Israel appears to be seeking expansion from Southern Cyprus toward the Aegean islands.
Describing the idea as “the product of a flawed mindset,” Ertuğruloğlu said he believes such a move by Israel should be considered a “cause for war.”
He added, “In my personal opinion, this is a repetition of the occupation project of Palestine. The mentality of the early 1900s is repeating itself. They have ambitions to take control of islands in Cyprus and the Aegean.”
