Çavuşoğlu: Schools ready for new academic year

Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu said the new academic year was beginning with new hopes, new goals and, most importantly, strong confidence in the future of children.

Çavuşoğlu said efforts were continuing to ensure that students receive their education in safer schools, higher-quality learning environments and within an education system capable of meeting future needs.

He said classrooms were being modernised with smart boards, computers and improved internet infrastructure, while investments were also continuing in laboratories, libraries, workshops, sports facilities and other educational spaces.

Çavuşoğlu said all schools now have internet access, while air-conditioning problems have been resolved.

He added that ergonomic desks and chairs have been installed in schools and investment in technology and educational materials continues to increase.

Turning to new developments in the 2026–2027 academic year, Çavuşoğlu announced that Namık Kemal High School in Gazimağusa will offer “Anatolian High School and Science High School” programmes for the first time.

He said Yeniceköy Vocational High School will also admit its first students this year.

Çavuşoğlu also addressed teachers, parents and students in his message.

He thanked teachers for their dedication and told parents that their support was extremely important to their children’s success.

Addressing students, Çavuşoğlu said school was not only a place for lessons, but also a place where they could dream, build friendships and discover their talents.

He urged students never to stop being curious, asking questions and trying new things, stressing that success comes through regular and sustained effort.

Çavuşoğlu said every step taken in education today would help shape both the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the wider world.
