Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the US decision to extend the lifting of the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot administration until September 30, 2027.
The Ministry said Türkiye shared the views expressed in the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the matter.
“At a time when the Greek Cypriot side is increasing its pressure in every field on the Turkish Cypriot people, who are co-owners of the island, and undermining regional stability through its intensive armament activities, we once again stress the need to refrain from steps that would further erode trust between the two sides on the island” the Ministry statement said.
“As the motherland and guarantor, Türkiye will continue to safeguard the security of the Turkish Cypriot people under all circumstances while defending their legitimate rights and interests, and will resolutely continue its efforts to ensure that the TRNC takes its rightful place in the international community” it added.
