Speaking at the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Planning and Budget Committee, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan evaluated the Cyprus issue.
Fidan stressed that Türkiye’s efforts continue toward reaching a fair, lasting, sustainable and reality-based solution to the Cyprus question — a national cause for Türkiye.
He stated “In the coming period, just as in the past, we will continue our efforts, as the motherland and guarantor, within our historical, legal and humanitarian responsibilities and in line with the realities of the island, to support the peace, welfare and development of the Turkish Cypriot people.”
Fidan added that Türkiye aims to see the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean become regions of stability and prosperity where the legitimate rights and interests of all parties are respected.
He also highlighted that the support of the Turkic States for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriots is clearly reflected in summit declarations.
