Tribute paid to TRNC’s first Prime Minister
The 36th anniversary of the passing of the first Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mustafa Çağatay, has been marked with messages of remembrance and respect.
Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Ziya Öztürkler issued a message commemorating the late Mustafa Çağatay on the anniversary of his death.
Öztürkler described Çağatay as a distinguished statesman who contributed at every stage of the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for existence, highlighting his lasting legacy in public service and leadership.
In his message, Öztürkler emphasized that Çağatay, remembered for his humility, principled politics and close connection with the people, continues to inspire today through his vision and governance approach.
He added that there are valuable lessons to be drawn from Çağatay’s dedication to his nation, foresight and understanding of state administration, concluding by commemorating him with respect, gratitude and mercy.
