Cooperation agreement in the fields of labour, employment and social security

Minister of Labour and Social Security of the TRNC, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, met with the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, as part of his contacts in Ankara.

During the meeting, the two ministers signed a Cooperation Agreement in the fields of Labour, Employment, and Social Security.

The intergovernmental cooperation agreement signed between the government of the Republic of Türkiye and the government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was characterized as a cooperation protocol that consolidates and standardizes all previous protocols.

The agreement aims to strengthen and develop the relations between the two countries in the areas of labour, employment, and social security.

As part of the agreement, which covers five main headings, it was also decided to establish a Joint Working Commission for the first time, with a long-term and scheduled plan.

The commission will prepare an action plan and implement it according to a set timeline and program.

After the signing of the agreement, Minister of Labour and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu stated that the relationship between Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people was based on a vital and spiritual bond that goes far beyond economic and financial foundations.

Hasipoğlu stressed that this cooperation was not just a technical step but a tangible indicator of the brotherly relationship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

He also noted that the agreement represented an important step toward providing Turkish Cypriot workers with a safer, fairer, and more productive working life, as well as a strategic investment in the economic independence and social welfare of the TRNC.

Hasipoğlu expressed his happiness over the signing of the agreement, as it marks the establishment of a long-term and comprehensive cooperation in the field of labour and employment for the first time.
