Prime Minister Üstel Thanks Kurtulmuş
Prime Minister Üstel stated that Kurtulmuş brought the rightful cause of the Turkish Cypriot people to Europe’s agenda by revealing historical truths against the claims of the Greek Cypriot side. Emphasizing that a fair and lasting solution in Cyprus is only possible with the acceptance of sovereign equality and equal international status, Üstel stated that the decisive support of Motherland Turkey is indispensable for the Turkish Cypriot people.
Prime Minister Üstel included the following statements in his announcement:
“We note with great pleasure the statements made by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, defending the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people and the rightful struggle of Motherland Turkey at the Conference of Speakers of European Parliaments, and we wholeheartedly support his resolute stance.
Mr. Kurtulmuş has revealed historical facts against the reality-distorting claims of the Greek Cypriot side and has once again powerfully brought to Europe’s agenda that the Turkish Cypriot people cannot be ignored.
The Turkish Cypriot people are equal and original owners of this island. No mindset that ignores our existence, our will, and our state can open the door to a fair and lasting solution in Cyprus. The path to a solution passes through the acceptance of our people’s sovereign equality and equal international status.
The environment of peace and security provided by Motherland Turkey with the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation is the guarantee for our people to live freely. Turkey’s guarantee and the presence of the Turkish soldier are indispensable for the future of our people.
On behalf of our people, we thank Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, who strongly defended the rightful cause of the Turkish Cypriot people before the representatives of European parliaments. This stance he displayed has once again been a clear expression of Motherland Turkey’s unshakable solidarity with our people.
The bond between us and Motherland Turkey is the bond of our shared history, shared struggle, and shared future. With the strength we draw from this solidarity, we will continue to develop our state, defend our people’s rights, and build our future together.”
