KIB-TEK management and EL-SEN reach agreement
Discussions held between the management of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) and the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees’ Union (EL-SEN) have concluded with an agreement. The strike, which had reached its ninth day, has ended following the signing of a five-point protocol by both parties.
According to the signed protocol, a four-member committee on occupational health and safety will be formed, consisting of two members from each side. Necessary equipment will be determined, and needs will be addressed promptly.
The protocol also agreed to confirm that no new employment or recruitment had taken place during this process.
An agreement was also reached to freeze the recent decisions regarding promotions, which will be evaluated by the Promotion Commission and enacted following the end of election bans.
The duties of the Personnel Branch Supervisor will be carried out by Gürcem Akalınlar until a new appointment is made.
Under the agreement, no union action will be carried out until the elections are completed, and no investigative proceedings will be launched against personnel.
Furthermore, existing electrical faults will be resolved urgently, and no overtime pay will be requested for these works.
The conciliation protocol was signed by KIB-TEK Board Chairman Gürsel Uzun, KIB-TEK Director-General Dalman Aydın, Türk-Sen President Arslan Bıçaklı, and EL-SEN President Ahmet Tuğcu.
